]]>The WomanToWoman conference provides a platform to examine and discuss issues facing low-income African American, Haitian, and Hispanic women farmworkers in the Apopka area. This one-day event includes keynote speakers and workshops, and provides a safe space for participants to “come together in community and diversity to share knowledge, experience, inspiration and empowerment.” The conference will run in Spanish, English, and Creole.
The Farmworker Association of Florida is a nonprofit, community-based organization for the advancement of equality for farmworkers, who are disproportionately affected by racism, exploitation, and discrimination based on socioeconomic and immigrant status. FWAF’s mission is to empower local farmworkers and provide the tools necessary to assist them in navigating the realities of their lives.
UCF’s Women's and Gender Studies program seeks to provide the best education in women’s and gender studies through an Interdisciplinary Studies track bachelor’s degree, an undergraduate minor, and both an undergraduate and graduate certificate. The program’s students and faculty members are active in community outreach projects and partnerships, and strive to “enhance diversity and support women and their endeavors.”
