UCF Diversity Week is a celebration of our diverse community and an opportunity to explore topics across the broad range of human identity, experience, and interaction. Diversity Week activities are intended to stimulate our campus and move us to a more inclusive culture.
This year marks the 26th UCF Diversity Week. This year’s theme, “A New Day Dawns” signals the important changes coming to our campus with a new President, as well as the opportunities those changes bring. We are close to federal designation as an Hispanic Serving Institution. We live in a changing Central Florida community and a country debating fair treatment of all members of our society. We have built a foundation of excellence in higher education diversity and inclusion – how will we bring greater transformation and impactful action to our efforts?
Get engaged!

]]>Erin Elizabeth is a conceptual artist and utilizes non-traditional materials such as cake and sprinkles along with gold leaf in order to explore questions about banality, celebration, and experiential value. Harry Sidebotham is first and foremost a painter. He engages in the tradition of painting, investigating scientific theories such as parallel dimension theory. They have two young children and a collaborative studio practice that assumes the identity, Elizabeth / Sidebotham.
Elizabeth / Sidebotham embraces the paradox presented by the intersection of a traditional domestic landscape and artistic productivity. The work reflects the sacrifices, challenges, freedom, and joy of parenthood. Fragility interplays with strength. Reverence replaces frivolity. The materials, forms, and modes of productions are infused with memory and sentimentality and exist in a state of premature nostalgia. There is profundity in the banal, but it is also spectacularly boring. Elizabeth / Sidebotham strives to capture this contradiction. More Information

Are political economy approaches sufficient to examine the politics of South Asian countries including India? Ethno-religious factors, human rights activism and struggles, rights-based activism in support of environment, human rights issues, gender equality, land reform, advancement of education and social mobility are strengthening in South Asian countries. New social movements bear impact on policy matters and press necessary changes in the Constitution and draft new legislations. These trends require new approaches in comparative politics beyond an emphasis on formal, institutional dynamics and legal developments.

Community: A Quilt Stitched Together
A quilt is made of fabrics of different colors, shapes, and styles stitched together that reflects and combines all the individual pieces into a single beautiful quilt. Our community is much like a quilt; unique stories that are stitched together through diversity, inclusion, acceptance, and equity to become one beautiful community. I look forward to hearing your story.

]]>Heartfulness Meditation is a simple, practical technique that you can use alongside any other form of yoga, meditation or spiritual practice. In a few minutes, you will learn how to truly relax and feel the lightness and joy of your true nature. You don’t need to know how to meditate or to believe in a particular system or philosophy. The Heartfulness technique shows us to gently turn our attention towards our heart and experience that inner presence for ourselves.
