Engineers Without Borders (EWB) is hosting our annual 6K run on Sunday, April 14th beginning at 9:00 am at the University of Central Florida (UCF). Why 6K you ask? Because this is the average distance that people (largely women and children) in developing countries must walk each day to collect water. Our mission is to raise funds for our water quality and quantity project in Mare Brignol, Haiti. The project improves the quality of life for more than 1,000 people and allows fellow UCF engineering students the chance to solve a real-world problem. We are committed to a long term relationship with the areas we serve, and have established a communal Water Board in Mare Brignol. Our group helps villagers use and maintain the cisterns and slow-sand filters which we build, and also bolsters their feeling of responsibility of the devices.
Registration is $12 per person for groups of 8 or more, $15 for individuals before March 18. After- $15 per person in groups, $20 individuals.
