"What Have We Become?" : A Discussion of the Evolution of the African American Community

The purpose of this discussion is to analyze how African American people have evolved in this country within the past 50 years. We want participants to share their opinions on the perception of African Americans and situations that impact our community. We would like to discuss social barriers that still affect our population and how we as a people deal with these factors today. The opportunity for students to discuss their true opinions of the African American community; in the nation and in the UCF community. It will be an positive environment where discussion is encouraged and action is necessary. Students will have the opportunity to highlight all of the positive contributions of African Americans and/or reveal any negativity that they possibly resent. For those students that decide to highlight negativity, hopefully this event will encourage them to be the change that they want to see in their community.
