Protecting Your Brand in the Social Media Economy - UCF College of Business: The Dean's Speaker Series, generously supported by CFE Federal Credit Union

Friday, March 21, 2014 7:30 a.m. to 9 a.m.
Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn, YouTube, WeChat, Instagram...what does it all mean to you and your brand? “Likes”... “Comments”...”recommendations”...how is your customer evolving in how they participate in the marketplace?

Social media has changed the marketplace forever. As participation in social media increases, younger generations of people enter the commercial marketplace, and “user-generated feedback” grows in credibility, you must be in a position to effectively promote and protect your brand. On any given day a poor comment or attack from a competitor in one of the social channels can turn into a crisis for your reputation.

Dr. Carolyn Massiah will provide you with insights and information for you to better manage your marketing communication in this new and fast changing marketplace.

Carolyn Massiah is a marketing lecturer at the University of Central Florida. Her academic credentials include a Ph.D. in Marketing from the W.P. Carey School of Business at Arizona State University.

Massiah’s research focuses on intergroup relations among consumers within the service marketing and consumer behavior domains. Specifically, she researches consumption experiences, commercial friendships, commercial social support, ethnic consumption, nested identities, sense of community, and social networks. In addition to her research interests, Dr. Massiah also focuses on several methodological areas of marketing research such as ethnographic exploration, social network analysis, and experimental analysis.

The CFE Dean’s Speaker Series is a monthly opportunity from the UCF College of Business to learn about the provocative and new programs that our world class faculty are spearheading, researching, and teaching. This is an opportunity to be out on the edge of new business ideas and network with other business leaders in our community. Seating is limited and the program is sure to sell out.
