Eldora State House Community Shoreline Stabilization Day (link)
|Date:||Saturday, June 15th|
|Time:||9:00 am-1:00 pm|
UCF's Coastal and Estuary Ecology Lab (CEELAB) is hosting a shoreline restoration event to prevent further erosion and potential damage to the Eldora State House in Canaveral National Seashore. Erosion is a prevalent issue along Florida’s coastlines, exacerbated by wakes from boat traffic and severe weather. This depletion of sand can lead to habitat loss for many native species, as well as property damage to our State’s cultural treasures.
Additional Public Info: There is a gate guard at the front of the park- please stop and inform them you are volunteering for the event and you will not be charged admission.
Directions: Canaveral National Seashore address: 7600 South Atlantic Avenue, New Smyrna Beach, FL 32169. Once you arrive at the park, continue on Atlantic Ave. There is a sign for Eldora House on your right before your turn onto River Road. Turn right onto River Rd and continue until you see a parking area on your right- please park in areas 7 or 8. A little further down the road you will see a sign marking the driveway to Eldora House on the right.
