Dr. James Wright, Professor in Sociology and the Institute of of Social and Behavioral Sciences will kick-off Student Research Week with a presentation summarizing a series of undergraduate and graduate student research projects dealing with hunger and food insecurity in Central Florida. This research program has proceeded without external funding and yet has produced a comprehensive portrait of hunger and food insecurity issues in our region. Student research of this sort illustrates the artificiality of the boundaries we construct between teaching, research and service. We teach students important lessons about social issues by having them conduct research that can be and is used by social-service agencies in the community.

Interested in seeing what UCF's pre-professional health clubs have to offer? Want to learn more about overall health and well-being? Come to the kick-off event for the Multicultural Association of Pre-Health Students' Health Week held at the Ferrell Commons Lawn from 1:30-3:30PM! The Health Fair presented by MAPS will feature a live DJ, snacks, fun and activities including prizes and henna tattoos, and booths by the following student organizations: -Multicultural Association of Pre-Health Students (MAPS) -Association of Pre-Physician Assistants (APPA) -American Red Cross Club (ARCC) -International Medical Outreach (IMO) -Pre-Optometry Association (POA) -Pre-Student Osteopathic Medical Association (Pre-SOMA) and also UCF Health Services. The Health Fair will be held on the Ferrell Commons Lawn from 1:30PM-3:30PM. Students who attend ALL four days of events and complete their stamp card will be entered into a raffle to win prizes including gift cards, a free photography session, and more!

Come tutor with Page 15 in downtown Orlando! Page 15 is committed to providing supplemental reading and writing education for all students living and attending public schools in Orlando. Their free after-school tutoring is dedicated to enhancing communication skills, encouraging creativity, and inspiring a lifelong passion for the language arts. We will be helping in the homework room and assisting students with homework and assignments. We will be meeting at the Lake Claire Pavilion at 2:30pm to carpool and return to campus at 6:30pm. **Please note that in order to attend this event you will have to RSVP two weeks in advance.
