The
University of Central Florida Recreation and Wellness Center continues its
commitment to fulfilling one of UCF President John Hitt’s key goals of becoming
a more inclusive and diverse university with its annual Inclusive Recreation
Expo. Over the past four years UCF Knights of all abilities have enjoyed the
opportunity to learn more about the equipment, programs and services the RWC
offers to students with disabilities on campus.
Imagine
scoring a basket from a wheelchair, or scoring a goal blindfolded. Attendees will
have an opportunity to try those activities and several more throughout the day
at the RWC’s main building (Gemini Boulevard South across from Parking Garage
B) Wednesday, October 14, 2015 from 11am-7pm. The line-up of free clinics include: ·

The RWC’s Inclusive Recreation Program is gaining recognition
with several news features in the past year. Sport Clubs Coordinator, Andrea
Snead, runs the Inclusive Recreation program at the RWC. She says the goal is
to become a nationally recognized program, “The importance of the Expo is to
heighten the awareness of recreation available to students of all abilities.
Our program is getting noticed due to recent media coverage and it is our job
to continue to move this message forward to our students, faculty and staff
here at UCF.”
The Inclusive Recreation Expo will also feature three of
the RWC’s returning partners:
Special Olympics of Florida,
The Orange County Clash quad rugby team and
Flippers Pizzeria. The Clash will
host a clinic giving students the chance to participate in specially designed
wheelchairs. The UCF RWC is funded by the Student
Government Association. Comprehensive and diverse programs like Inclusive Recreation
are part of the RWC’s mission and goals to continually enrich campus life and
advance UCF’s educational mission for all students. For more information and questions
about the expo please contact Andrea Snead at (407) 823-2408 or email her at
