Fall Into Wellness

Wednesday, November 2, 2016 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.

Join us for our first ever Fall Into Wellness! From mind-body focused activities to exercise classes to informational sessions, this day-long event will showcase strategies to teach our Knights life skills that cultivate a successful personal well-being.

 

Schedule of events:
9:00 - 9:45am: Guided Meditation ClassLearn how to just be. Learn the basics of meditation by practicing with guidance from WHPS’s Stress Management Coordinator.


10:00 - 11am: Outdoor Zumba ClassZumba offers dance-style, variable intensity exercises for students to get physically active while also having fun in the process! This class will be facilitated by one of the RWC’s certified group exercise instructors. *Subject to class format change based on instructor availability


11:00am - 12:00pm: Registered Dietitian Smoothie Demo and Q&AWHPS’s own registered dietitian will demonstrate how to prepare a healthy meal-replacement smoothie and answer questions in this walk-up style demo/forum. You'll have the opportunity to learn the recipe and associated benefits of the included ingredients. KIND bars will be provided to go along with this educational session!


12:00 - 1:00pm: RWC/WHPS ExpoCome talk to the RWC and WHPS staff about our programs and services! We'll have goodies to give away and will be happy to answer any questions you may have.


1:30 - 2:00pm: Outdoor Dodgeball GameThis dodgeball game will be “pick-up” style (walk-up participation), but will follow the same rules as standard recreation UCF IM dodgeball. It will be facilitated by RWC Intramural Sports.


2:00 - 3:00pm: CombineSimilar to athletic combine events, there will be a competition of athletic ability among other students, and will show you where you rank among professional athletes. The RWC personal trainers will facilitate the vertical jump, 40-yd dash, broad jump, 3-cone drill, and 20-yd shuttle!


3:00 - 4:00pm: Stress ManagementThis session by WHPS has three simultaneous activities: 1) Journal to self-discovery: allows you to be present and mindful with a self-guided activity by providing art materials and supplies for their use. 2) More Love Letters: write an anonymous encouraging letter to a fellow student! 3) Mobile Relaxation Station: sit in our stationary chair and iPad that teaches breathing exercises to help manage stress.


4:00 - 5:00pm: Challenge CourseThe RWC's Outdoor Adventure Center will host activities geared towards creating strong relationships, building trust, and working with other students to achieve a common goal. It's a fun way to meet new people!
