ZORA! Festival: Volunteer Orientation

Thursday, December 8, 2016 5:30 p.m. to 8 p.m.

Are you interested in participating in the 28th annual ZORA! Festival? Then come join VUCF as we prepare for this event by first attending their volunteer orientation. Taking place the last week of January each year in Eatonville (now known as Maitland), FL, this multi-day, multi-disciplinary event celebrates the life and work of 20th century writer, folklorist and anthropologist, Zora Neale Hurston. Her hometown, Eatonville is the nation’s oldest incorporated African American municipality and the contributions people of African ancestry have made to the United States and world culture.

Celebrate and honor her legacy with VUCF! In order to volunteer at this large-scale event, volunteers are required to attend the ZORA! Festival Volunteer Orientation. We will be meeting at the Lake Claire Pavillion by 5:30PM to carpool and leaving no later than 5:45PM. Volunteers who drive in the carpool will receive an extra hour of service. If you arrive late or would like to meet us at the location, please arrive at the museum no later than 6:15PM. Depending on how long the orientation will run, we should expect to be back on campus no later than 8PM.
