Dr. Enrique A. Puig is known internationally for his expertise in literacy coaching (K-12). With over 30 years of teaching and coaching experience, Enrique has lead schools in transforming teacher and student learning. He is the co-author of several books including The Literacy Coach: Guiding in the Right Direction; and he serves as the director of the Morgridge International Reading Center and is past president of the Florida Literacy Coaches Association.

During this institute, you will:
Develop an understanding of literacy learning as a process and teaching for confluency
Determine text placement for students in an appropriate text complexity grade band
Turn the language of the Common Core State Standards into explicit teaching prompts to meet the needs of students in your classroom
Examine and analyze text quantitatively and qualitatively
Improve data interpretation to impact instruction
Develop an understanding of text complexity levels and close reading
Review the role of text complexity in an integrated model of literacy instruction
Investigate the role of writing in an integrated model of literacy instruction across content areas
