In this day-long in-service educators will focus on teaching students to integrate knowledge and ideas by integrating and evaluating content presented in diverse media and formats, including visually and quantitatively, as well as in words. Hands-on interactive presentation will concentrate on delineating and evaluating the argument and specific claims in a text, including the validity of the reasoning as well as the relevance and sufficiency of the evidence. Throughout the in-service analyzing how two or more texts address similar themes or topics in order to build knowledge, including genre studies, will be addressed.
