Filmed in 10 countries, the series follows Nicholas Kristof and celebrity activists America Ferrera, Diane Lane, Eva Mendes, Meg Ryan, Gabrielle Union and Olivia Wilde on a journey to tell the stories of inspiring, courageous individuals. Across the globe oppression is being confronted, and real meaningful solutions are being fashioned through health care, education, and economic empowerment for women and girls.
The linked problems of sex trafficking and forced prostitution, gender-based violence, and maternal mortality, which needlessly claim one woman every 90 seconds, present to us the single most vital opportunity of our time: the opportunity to make a change. All over the world women are seizing this opportunity.

]]>Join us as we host an Expert Panel discussing “Education and the Central Florida Economy: Are We Meeting the Need?”
When: Wednesday, October 25, 2017 from 9:00 – 10:30am
Where: UCF Student Union, Garden Key (Room 221)
Panelists: Jesus Jara, Deputy Superintendent at Orange County Public Schools, Pamela “Sissi” Carrol, Dean at UCF College of Education and Human Performance, and Thad Seymour, Jr., Vice Provost for UCF Downtown.
Each year the UCF United Way Campaign hosts an expert panel focusing on the tough subjects facing us today. This year, with the recent announcements of the developing UCF Downtown campus, the topic of education in relation to our economy has come up in multiple facets.
Economic growth cannot continue in Central Florida without a healthy, trained workforce. But equipping students with the skills and support they need to graduate high school is no longer sufficient. Research shows that by 2025, more than 2/3 of jobs in Central Florida will require a postsecondary degree or another high quality credential. Currently, less than 40% of our population meets that requirement. What are collectively doing as a community to increase the skill level of the workforce in Central Florida? What are our roles? Join us as we discuss these questions and dive deeper into the subject.
This year, our Moderator for the discussion is Annie Martin, a staff writer for K-12 schools in Orange and Seminole Counties at the Orlando Sentinel Media Group. Filling out our panel we will welcome Jesus Jara, Deputy Superintendent at Orange County Public Schools, Pamela “Sissi” Carrol, Dean at UCF College of Education and Human Performance, and Thad Seymour, Jr., Vice Provost for UCF Downtown.

]]>A Force in Nature is a self-reflective journey of a 93 year-old Icelandic man in Texas. Jóhann Eyfells, through his genuine candor reveals the forces that shaped his life as an artist. The story reveals the struggles that an artist must face when he is not understood by his own community, and the difficult choices one must endure every day to remain true to one’s own nature. It is a story that explores what it means to be successful as an artist. It is also a story of a profound love between two very strong and independent individuals, and the devotion they had for one another. It is also a story of reconciliation between him and his family that he left behind in Iceland.
Jóhann Eyfells is a sculptor born in Reykjavík, but has spent most of his working life in the United States. He works with huge, heavy pieces of stone, steel and wood. His theory of art is called receptualism and Johann is mostly concerned with the interaction of gravity, time and space. He has worked consistently and steadily for over six decades.
