Every UCF employee has a role in creating a work environment that is respectful. This workshop explores issues of workplace civility, and provides employees with strategies for addressing uncivil behavior and ways to create a more civil work culture.

DESCRIPTION:This workshop addresses research misconduct in the form of fabrication of data or experimental outcomes, falsifying data or originality of material (e.g., plagiarism) and breech of confidentially of data as it relates to human subjects or contractual obligations. An historical perspective is given to highlight some infamous examples of misconduct and the ensuing scandals when they were publicized. Some mechanisms for discovery of bogus data will be noted to suggest that ultimately research misconduct will likely be discovered. Some long-term consequences of research misconduct will be identified that demonstrates the paramount importance of maintaining data integrity. \n\nStudents must register for this workshop through their myUCF Student Center under Graduate Students then Pathways to Success. Students will receive a link to participate online upon registration in myUCF.

DESCRIPTION:Described by the Chicago Sun Times as "…riveting and insightful, who lights up in passages of violin pyrotechnics," Caroline Eva Chin has concertized throughout the United States, Europe and Asia in concert halls including the John F. Kennedy Center, the White House during their Christmas Festivities, New York's Carnegie and Weill Halls, and the Concertgebeau in Amsterdam. She gave her solo debut at age 12 and has since performed with several orchestras throughout the United States.\n\nAn avid chamber musician, Ms. Chin has been a member the Hudson Piano Trio, Ensemble Epomeo and collaborated with members of the Takacs Quartet, Vermeer Quartet, the Juilliard Quartet as well as with artists Gary Hoffman, Raphael Wallfisch, Colin Carr, Nobuko Imai, Charles Neidich, Piers Lane, Vladimir Mendelssohn, Roger Chase, and Abdel Rahman El Basha. She has been featured as a guest artist at the Consonances Festival in France, Schiermonnikoog Chamber Music Festival in Holland, the 2 Rivers Chamber Music Festival in the UK, the Scotia Festival in Canada, and the Newburyport Chamber Music Festival in Massachusetts.\n\nA promoter of new music, she has performed works of composers Samuel Adler, Lisa Bielawa, Richard Carrick, Christopher Dietz,Jennifer Higdon, Mikel Kuehns, Paul Moravec, Marilyn Shrude, Alexandra Vrebelov and a world premiere of Triple Concerto: Da Camara by Pulitzer Prize winning composer, George Walker. Recordings include the world premiere Elliott Carter's Tre Duetti for Violin and Cello on Centaur Records as well as recordings on Avie Records, Somm Records, and New World Records.\n\nWhile on tour, she has given master classes at universities and colleges throughout the U.S. including Ohio University, University of Tennessee, Shenandoah College, and Brooklyn College. Ms. Chin has toured the US and Japan with tap dancer Savion Glover and performed and recorded as leader of SONYC and concertmaster of the Paragon Ragtime Orchestra. As the Artistic Director of Musica Reginae from 2007-2011, she worked to bring high quality music performances to the ethnically diverse communities of Queens.\n\nMs. Chin is Assistant Professor of Violin at Bowling Green State University's College of Musical Arts. DESCRIPTION:October is Domestic Violence Awareness month and UCF Victim Services will be hosting an Intimate Partner Abuse Educational Workshop Series. Every Wednesday at 3:00 p.m. in October we will be hosting educational workshops via zoom that will focus on topics related to intimate partner abuse and how it can affect students, faculty and staff at UCF. Each series will have a panel of professionals doing a Q and A followed by a scenario discussion on the topic of that week.\n\nThe second workshop of the series, Close to Home on Wednesday October 14 at 3:00 p.m., focuses on domestic abuse and how it can affect an employee's life. The workshop will have panelists from UCF Victim Services, Victim Service Center, and UCF Human Resources. Please join us in these important discussions to help end intimate partner abuse here at UCF.
