en-US The Office of Research Cyberinfrastructure is hosting a one-day Research Computing for Beginners Bootcamp designed to introduce participants to essential tools, including Git, Python, R and data visualization techniques. This bootcamp requires no prior experience and is structured to provide a beginner-friendly learning environment.

The event will have four sessions:

Session 1: Git version control for beginners
This session introduces the fundamentals of Git and command-line version control for managing code and collaborative projects.

Session 2: A gentle introduction to Python for research computing
This beginner-friendly session covers core Python concepts for research workflows, including data handling, basic analysis and scripting.

Session 3: Introduction to programming in R 
This session provides a practical introduction to R for data preprocessing and analysis. 

Session 4: Data visualization using Python
This session focuses on analyzing and visualizing data using Python libraries such as Matplotlib, Seaborn and Plotly.

Please note: All the sessions have a hands-on component. To participate in the hands-on exercises during the session, you will need to bring your own laptop equipped with a web browser and install any software specific to that lesson. Refer to each lesson's description for specific instructions.

en-US The Art Show is an opportunity specifically for the students in the UCF SVAD MFA program to experience what it can be like to participate and put on an exhibition outside of the University in a professional gallery space while garnering recognition from the Central Florida community.

Students must work within the parameters set by the gallery and adapt to changes and challenges that may arise throughout the process. The Art Show is the concept of an exhibition which will require the participants to think beyond their studio practice.

en-US The Pathways 2026: The Carlos Malamud Prize exhibition is a collaborative partnership between the UCF Art Gallery and the Rollins Museum of Art, celebrating emerging professional artists across Florida. Juried by a panel of three art professionals, this year’s exhibition features six artists with diverse practices, spanning a wide range of media, themes, and perspectives.

Works by all six finalists will be shown at both venues, creating opportunities to engage with two major academic communities. One artist will receive a $10,000 prize, a solo exhibition in 2027, and the opportunity to serve as a juror for the next edition, along with additional professional development support.

Pathways is designed to nurture emerging artists and provide a meaningful path forward, reflecting the shared missions of both institutions.

Self Management And Recovery Training (SMART Recovery) is an evidenced-informed recovery method grounded in Rational Emotive Behavioral Therapy (REBT) and Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), that supports people with substance dependencies or problem behaviors to:

  1. Build and maintain motivation
  2. Cope with urges and cravings
  3. Manage thoughts, feelings and behaviors
  4. Live a balanced life

SMART Recovery focuses on the addictive behaviors, not the substance – meaning they are suitable for any problematic or addictive behavior – including but not limited to alcohol, drugs, gambling, tobacco, as well as eating disorders.
