	"description": "\u003Cp\u003E\u003Cspan\u003EThis play is presented as part of UCF\u0027s Pegasus PlayLab. Imagine square dancing, but much better. That is an Irish C\u0026eacute\u003Bil\u0026iacute\u003B (pronounced kaylee), a folk art in which an emcee calls out the names of dances and the crowd performs the partner work arm\u002Din\u002Darm, and solo moves in circles and sways. Within this framework of many Irish dances, including the titular Eight\u002DHand Jig, we learn the history of the O\u0026rsquo\u003BMalley family, both in Chicago 2036, and in Dublin 1701. The play switches swiftly from movement to dialogue, and each physical number moves the plot forward as we see past and future collide. Mel O\u0026rsquo\u003BMalley has three B\u002Deautiful children: Brigid, Bree, and enby Brenda. Of Irish heritage, Mel is constantly straddling the worlds between the motherland and her daughters\u0026rsquo\u003B childhood home in the U.S. When all four family members gather for Bree\u0026rsquo\u003Bs baby shower in 2036, a heartbreaking secret is revealed. The family\u0026rsquo\u003Bs experiences parallel that of their Irish ancestors, accused of witchcraft. These O\u0026rsquo\u003BMalley women, separated by generations, have been subject to the same pain and injustices of womanhood. This play examines the nature of women\u0026rsquo\u003Bs rights through the quirky lens of dance and the misfit O\u0026rsquo\u003BMalley family.\u003C/span\u003E\u003C/p\u003E\u000A\u003Cp\u003E\u003Cspan\u003E\u003Cstrong\u003EPlaywright: MC Crosby | Director: David Sterritt\u003C/strong\u003E\u003C/span\u003E\u003C/p\u003E\u000A\u003Cp\u003E\u003Cem\u003EEach performance is followed by a talkback with the audience.\u0026nbsp\u003B\u003C/em\u003E\u003C/p\u003E",
