For example, a significant proportion of COVID\u002D19 survivors experience persistent symptoms, known as \u0026ldquo\u003BLong\u002DCOVID,\u0026rdquo\u003B for years after initial infection. In this talk, we discuss a mass\u002Daction infectious disease model that models Long\u002DCOVID and other post\u002Dinfection conditions by incorporating post\u002Dinfection mortality and partial immunity. We then construct a new model that assumes the disease is transmitted by the standard incidence rate. For this new model, we prove the existence and uniqueness of the endemic equilibrium, prove the global stability of the disease\u002Dfree equilibrium, and provide partial results about the global stability of the endemic equilibrium. Then, we compare the two models, with particular attention to the existence of limit cycles. It is found that in cases where limit cycles occur in the mass\u002Daction model, they do not occur in our standard incidence model. Lastly, we discuss the relationship between partial immunity and the endemicity of infectious diseases using numerical simulations. Our findings highlight how incidence rates qualitatively change the dynamics of disease models and how partial immunity impacts disease severity.\u003C/p\u003E",

The Blended Learning class includes an online portion (approx. 2\u002D3 hours long) and an instructor\u002Dled class skills session (approx. 2.5 hours long). The online portion must be completed prior to attending the in\u002Dclass skills session. \u003Cstrong\u003EThe course is open UCF students, faculty/staff, and members of the community.\u003C/strong\u003E\u003C/p\u003E\u000A\u003Cp\u003EEach participant who successfully completes the course will earn an American Red Cross certificate in Adult \u0026amp\u003B Pediatric First Aid, CPR with AED.
