Bio: Martin Fermann received his Ph.D. from Southampton University, U. K. After a postdoc period at the Technical University of Vienna and Bellcore, USA, he joined IMRA America Inc. in 1992, where he is currently serving as Vice President for Research and Advanced Development. He has been an author or co-author of around 500 technical papers and conference presentations and 150 US patents. His main interests comprise ultrafast optics, frequency combs, precision spectroscopy and metrology, fiber and solid-state lasers. He is a fellow of the Optical Society of America.

About the Speaker: Darren Hudson is a Senior Technical Manager at CACI-Photonic Solutions in Florham Park, New Jersey where he leads the Multi-Spectral laser development group. Prior to that, he was a Senior Research Fellow at Macquarie University and a Discovery Early Career Award Fellow at the University of Sydney (Australia). From 2013 to 2017, he led the Mid-IR Photonics Flagship Project at the CUDOS Centre of Excellence. He received his PhD from University of Colorado/JILA in 2009 with thesis advisors Steven Cundiff and Jun Ye.
He has authored over 50 journal publications, 100+ conference proceedings, and written several book chapters. He is a founder of Miriad Technologies, which brought the first high-speed mid-IR spectrometer to the market.
