SUMMARY:"Paper House" - 2021 Annual MFA Exhibition
URL:https://events.ucf.edu/event/2039887/paper-house-2021-annual-mfa-exhibition/

The exhibition showcases the thesis work of Master of Fine Arts candidates in the UCF School of Visual Arts and Design: Gabe Cortese, Danielle Culibao-Powell, Tim Reid and Annette Tojar.\n\nGabe Cortese's paintings and drawings depict codification of queerness through figuration and symbolism.\n\nDanielle Culibao Powell creates paintings and collages to expand upon personal experiences of falling into, or between, multiple cultures at once.\n\nExperimental filmmaker and installation artist Tim Reid provokes viewers with specific and universal insecurities, contradictions, and hypocrisy.\n\nEmbracing her passion as a former professional pastry chef, Annette Tojar creates paintings of food to explore her cultural identity and personal histories.[](https://gallery.cah.ucf.edu/welcome-back/)\n\nLearn more about the exhibition: \n\nExhibition Dates: February 17 - March 3, 2021 \n \nOur physical gallery space has reopened! DESCRIPTION:Knights Write 2021 (virtual) \n\nThis three-day virtual event celebrates outstanding writing and research by UCF students in ENC 1101 and 1102 and upper division and graduate programs' writing and rhetoric courses. Knights Write 2021 spotlights the transformative nature of the first-year writing program at UCF for students from across the university and the powerful impact of advanced rhetorical study on students' research and writing abilities. Events are hosted by the Department of Writing and Rhetoric. \n\nThe Showcase of First Year Writing presents original writing and research by first year students at UCF through virtual posters and panel presentations. Across these media, students showcase what they have learned through the study and practice of writing in ENC 1101 and 1102. Join us in recognizing students' creative and sophisticated written responses to questions such as: How does writing work in the world? How does writing make a difference and get things done? What roles can my writing play in academic, professional, civic, and personal contexts? Awards recognize outstanding Knights Write poster presentations and excellence in publication for Stylus: Journal of First Year Writing. \n\nThe Symposium of Upper Division and Graduate Programs in Writing and Rhetoric features virtual presentations of student work from a range of advanced writing and rhetoric courses. Upper division posters and panel presentations highlight the breadth of methodologies, technologies, and genres that are integral to contemporary professional, public, and personal writing.
