]]>Armed with markers, students and alumni from the UCF School of Visual Arts and Design race against the clock to create artwork in front of a crowd. The theme will be announced seconds before the start of the event, so come cheer on the artists and help choose a winner at the end of the competition. The finished designs will be displayed throughout the center for the duration of the festival.

Presented by the School of Visual Arts & Design (SVAD), visitors will view student-created animated films the Emerging Media BFA Character Animation track and the Emerging Media MFA in Animation and Visual Effects track. This event also offers a Q&A with the animators.

]]>The Art Show is an opportunity specifically for the students in the UCF SVAD MFA Studio Art & Design track to experience what it can be like to participate and put on an exhibition outside of the University, in a professional gallery space. Students will work within the parameters set by the gallery and adapt to changes and challenges that may arise throughout the process. The Art Show is the concept of an exhibition which will require the participants to think beyond their studio practice. The goal is for the students to gain experience outside of the University in a professional gallery space while garnering recognition from the Central Florida community.
Juror - The artwork will be selected by Justin Luper, artist, curator, and arts administrator. He is the Arts and Marketing Supervisor for the City of Casselberry.

Works by the six finalists will be shown at both venues, creating opportunities for engagement with two of the area’s major academic constituencies and their surrounding communities. The winning artist of Pathways: The Carlos Malamud Prize will receive a $10,000 cash prize, a solo exhibition at the UCF Art Gallery in 2025, and will participate as a juror for the following edition of the exhibition. The winner will also receive additional professional development and support. This consistent engagement over time makes Pathways unique and transformative among other art competitions. It hopes to nurture emerging artists and provide a pathway to success, which coincides with the core missions of both presenting institutions.
