Wednesday, June 12, 2019 1 p.m. to 4 p.m.

Presented by Ed Ramos, Senior Area Manager, SBA

When you think of the Small Business Administration (the SBA), you probably think of business loans. But there are also other things the SBA can do to help your business before and after you start—from training on effective day-to-day management and/or expansion of your business to obtaining very lucrative federal contracts. Here are 5 specific ways the SBA helps you:

  • SBA offers business education and training, counseling and other assistance
  • SBA provides access to capital via different loan guarantee programs.
    • Microloans, regular guaranteed loans up to $5M, loans for veterans and spouses, loans for exporters, home-based businesses, etc.
    • In addition, we can guarantee Surety Bonding up to $10M
    • Most SBA lenders available via online lender matching program
  • SBA can help you register, get trained and become a government contractor
    • Certification as 8(a), WOSB/EDWOSB, HUBZone open doors for federal contracts
    • Access to Mentor-Protégé programs that help you better position your company by building capacity, and providing size and affiliation exemptions for larger companies
    • Access to SBA Joint Ventures
    • Assistance from SBA Procurement and Commercial representatives
  • SBA works with FEMA to provide disaster assistance to all.
  • SBA advocates for the SBIR and/or STTR grants for research and development as well as other special federal initiatives, including the SBA National Ombudsman Most SBA activities are available to all businesses, but loans and some programs are available only to small businesses. As part of our efforts to maintain program integrity, we ensure firms are compliant with program/federal regulations so they stay in good standing and can enjoy continued program participation.
