Monday, April 15, 2019 2 p.m. to 3 p.m.

New Fables for New Parents in the 21st Century: A Workshop on Translating Morals in English, Spanish, and Haitian Creole:
This interactive workshop discusses 7 new fables written for new parents, created by a team of UCF students and professors, led by Dr. Tyler Fisher and Dr. Kimberly Renk. These variations on the traditional “beast fable,” are translated into Spanish and Haitian Creole to serve families in Florida’s 3 most spoken home languages. Dr. Tyler Fisher and Ms. Nick-Myrca Gauthier will discuss various limitations and latitudes, setbacks and solutions in their respective languages, while drafting collaborative translations of these “morals” for new parents and exploring aphoristic expression across languages more generally.
