Celebrate the newly-formed UCF Center for Ethics at its kickoff event: A conversation with Dr. Lisa M. Lee about the current state and future of ethics in research and academia. Lee will offer perspectives on questions like “What is an ethical culture and how can a university create one?,” and “What do you see as the biggest threat to integrity in academia today and what do we do about it?”
The conversation will be moderated by center founder Dr. Jonathan Beever, assistant professor of ethics and digital culture, and co-director Dr. Stephen Kuebler, professor of chemistry. Light refreshments will follow the conversation.

Lee (Ph.D. Johns Hopkins, M.S. Bioethics, M.A. Educational Psychology) is an epidemiologist, bioethicist and ethics educator currently serving as associate vice president for research and innovation and director of the division of Scholarly Integrity and Research Compliance at Virginia Tech. Most recently, she served as the inaugural Chief of Bioethics at Walter Reed Army Institute of Research. During the Obama administration, she served as executive director of the Presidential Bioethics Commission. For over 25 years, Lee has worked in public health and ethics at the local, state, and federal levels, including 14 years at the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention.
