World Mental Health Day: Suicide Prevention Training

Thursday, October 10, 2019 noon to 1 p.m.

October 10 is World Mental Health Day and the theme this year is Suicide Prevention.

QPR stands for Question, Persuade, and Refer -- 3 simple steps that anyone can learn to help save a life from suicide. Just as people trained in CPR and the Heimlich Maneuver help save thousands of lives each year, people trained in QPR learn how to recognize the warning signs of a suicide crisis and how to question, persuade, and refer someone to help.

QPR training is a form of “Gatekeeper” training. A gatekeeper is someone in a position to recognize a crisis and the warning signs that someone may be contemplating suicide. As a QPR-trained Gatekeeper you will learn to:

  1. Recognize the warning signs of suicide
  2. Know how to offer hope and
  3. Know how to get help and save a life.

No need to RSVP...just show up and sign in. Please arrive early as space is limited.
