Veterans Month: Flag Raising Ceremony & Yellow Ribbon Project

Friday, November 1, 2019 10 a.m. to 1 p.m.

Veterans Month at UCF kicks off in partnership with the Central Florida Yellow Ribbon Project. Help us honor and salute our nearly 1500 student veterans with the annual flag-raising ceremony and join us following the ceremony to macramé yellow ribbons on trees along UCF's Memory Mall. The Yellow Ribbon Project is a fiber bomb that sparks veteran awareness and echoes centuries of yellow cord and ribbon traditions symbolizing the welcoming home of veterans. Local artist Victoria "Macramé Momma" Walsh will curate this fiber art installation that will remain on Memory Mall for the month of November.

With support from this intaitive, the UCF Community Veterans History Project will create a Student Veteran School Supply Vault. Items such as audio pen recorders, blue books, USB drives, notebooks and planners will be stored in the vault and made available to student veterans at no charge.
