VR Middle Passage Experience is an interactive virtual reality experience where participants are asked to embody an African captive on their trip from Africa to the Americas. This experience is based on historical research from visual and archival materials, the slavevoyages.org database, and numerous primary accounts.
Designers and developers of the VR Middle Passage Experience will demonstrate it at the Hannibal Square Heritage Center in Winter Park, FL as part of 1619Fest! Orlando.
This project is a collaboration between faculty and students in the departments of History, Africana Studies, Games and Interactive Media, and the Center for Humanities and Digital Research at UCF.
