Addressing “First Generation” Challenges for Students, Faculty, and Staff presented by Dr. Carissa Baker, Assistant Professor, UCF Rosen College of Hospitality Management

Nearly a quarter of UCF undergraduates are first generation. At Rosen college, we also have graduate students, faculty, and staff who were the first in their families to graduate from college. How terrific is that!

Learn about the obstacles faced by undergraduate students including internal, external, and systemic issues. Consider the challenges for First Gen who enter academia as graduate students, faculty, or staff.

After exploring the research and sharing of first-hand experiences, learn and discuss best practices going forward to be inclusive of First-Gen undergrads, grad students, faculty, and staff here at Rosen College.
