Multiple-choice questions (MCQs) are common in formative and summative, high- and low-stakes assessments in higher education, but constructing MCQs that accurately assess students’ understanding can be challenging. In this session, we will present a recently published guideline called the item writing flaws evaluation instrument (IWFEI).
