URL:https://events.ucf.edu/event/2835390/discomfort-2023-mfa-exhibition/
DESCRIPTION:(Dis)comfort navigates constructed human experiences, environments, and practices meant to soothe the existential discomfort integral to the lived experience. This exhibition showcases the thesis work of three Master of Fine Arts candidates in the Studio Art & Design MFA track at the UCF School of Visual Arts & Design.\n\nLeeann Rae utilizes charcoal and soft pastel to dissect our understanding of episodic memory. \nBrittney Fucheck is a multidisciplinary artist who navigates coming to terms with death through appreciation, acknowledgement, and collaboration with nature. \nGretchen Smith's paintings explore ecological thought and constructed human experience to contextualize the climate crisis.\n\nThrough distinctive inquiry and individual lenses, each artist assembles individual views that converge to see past societal constructs meant to give comfort.\n\n[Opening Reception:](https://www.eventbrite.com/e/opening-reception-2023-mfa-exhibition-tickets-368599108857?aff=Website) Thursday, Feb. 16 from 6-8 p.m.\n\n_____________________________________________________________________\n\nThe UCF Art Gallery at the University of Central Florida serves as a catalyst for visual art experiences and education, culture, and community engagement.
