Today, the AIDS epidemic continues to be a serious health problem across the world that poses a risk to everyone regardless of gender, sexual orientation, race, ethnicity, class and creed. The epidemic also disproportionately affects more than 500,000 Blacks Americans, who live with the deadly infection. In addition, there are an estimated 20,000 new cases each year. According to the CDC (Center of Disease Control), AIDS related deaths rank 3rd among the leading causes of death in Black America.

Black as AIDS takes an in-depth look into the HIV/AIDS epidemic, with first hand
testimonials of those it has affected. Hear from the brave people who battle with it everyday but continue to go about their daily lives, as they share their struggles, coping methods and regrets.

Presented by UCF LGBTQ Services and the UCF chapter of the National Council of Negro Women. The film's director, Brian Boykins, will participate in a Q&A with the audience following the film. Read More
