AI Lunch & Learn: UCF Libraries

Wednesday, July 10, 2024 noon to 1 p.m.

Join us for the UCF AI Lunch & Learn series — a virtual event series designed to explore the innovative ways various departments across campus are utilizing artificial intelligence (AI).

Discover how AI is transforming research, teaching and operations at UCF, and learn from various departments and divisions across campus about how they are using the latest advancements and applications. Whether you're a faculty member or staff member, this series offers a valuable opportunity to explore the intersection of AI and academia and to connect with others who share your interest.

Grab your lunch and join us online for engaging discussions, insightful presentations and the opportunity to learn how AI is shaping the future of UCF and beyond.

Join us for the first session:

Wednesday, July 10, 2024
Noon-1 p.m. (45-minute talk, 15-minute Q&A)

During the first session of the AI Lunch & Learn series, we'll learn more about the UCF Libraries and their approach to exploring the possibilities with AI through many activities, including the development of an AI interest group to increase AI literacy, the creation of an AI research guide and the planning of a multi-month exploratory program for a small cohort of library employees eager to dive into the world of AI. Learn about the libraries’ participation in a research study with other UCF colleagues on gathering evidence of how instructional practices at many national institutions are evolving, especially considering AI. Hear from librarians who piloted Co-Pilot for a month, use AI regularly to help with digitization and digital accessibility, and partner with faculty to enhance research, teaching and learning using a variety of AI tools.

Speakers include:

  • Lee Dotson, Digital Initiatives Librarian
  • Lily Dubach, Textbook Affordability Librarian
  • Athena Hoeppner, Discovery Services Librarian
  • Peggy Nuhn, UCF Connect Librarian and Interim Head of the Curriculum Materials Center
  • Rachel Vacek, Associate Dean for Technology and Digital Strategies
