The Environmental Impacts of Eating

Monday, March 6, 2017 1 p.m. to 4 p.m.

Come out to VUCF's event as we discuss our environmental impacts of eating. We will be in Room 316 C/D of the Student Union. The schedule is as follows:

 1-2 PM: Maya Papaya's Organic Farm- Will be discussing how their produce is healthily and organically grown, and how their manner of farming is more environmentally friendly than other organic farms. Will discuss the various efforts they put forward to make sure they grow in the most environmentally-friendly way possible. Will highlight the impact they are making within the Orlando community, and how UCF students can get to know more about the farm, participate in future events with them.

2-3 PM Fresh U Vegan/Vegetarian Cooking Demo: Will present and cook environmentally friendly meal options for students to sample and learn how to cook themselves 

3-4 PM: Ethical Choices "The Environment and Modern Agriculture" Presentation- Students explore how raising farmed animals and related crops affect ecosystems and our health through global warming, the depletion of natural resources, the pollution of soil, water and air, the use of pesticides, hormones and antibiotics, soil erosion, deforestation and world hunger. Participants discuss alternative choices that can help protect our environment.
