SUMMARY:3D Printing Basics: From Digital to Physical
URL:https://events.ucf.edu/event/4180095/3d-printing-basics-from-digital-to-physical/
DESCRIPTION:Curious about 3D printing but not sure where to start? This workshop introduces the fundamentals of 3D printing, from finding or creating 3D models to turning digital designs into physical objects. Learn about online model repositories, 3D scanning, AI-powered design tools, slicing software, materials, and practical applications for teaching, research, work, home, and hobbies. No prior experience is required.\n\nIn this workshop, you'll learn to: \n\n * understand the complete 3D printing workflow--from finding or creating a model to producing a finished object.\n\n * identify multiple ways to obtain or create printable 3D models, including online repositories, 3D scanning, traditional CAD software, and AI-powered tools.\n\n * explain the role of slicing software, common printer settings, and how they affect print quality.\n\n * compare common filament types and understand which materials are best suited for different applications.\n\n * discover practical ways 3D printing can support teaching, research, work projects, home organization, and hobbies--including ideas for integrating printed models into courses and learning activities.\n\n * gain confidence in selecting a beginner-friendly 3D printer for personal or family use and understand what features matter when making a purchase.\n\n\n\n\nThis workshop is limited to faculty, staff and GTA's only. \nRegistration Link: https://app.acuityscheduling.com/schedule/38ac1755/?appointmentTypeIds[]=96339963
