DESCRIPTION:Digital tools offer new possibilities for literacy learning, but meaningful technology integration requires more than simply adding a device, platform or application to instruction. In this research-to-practice session, participants will explore four strategic considerations for making intentional decisions about technology in literacy learning: connecting digital technology to instructional goals, adding tools strategically, building on students' existing knowledge and allowing them to lead, and designing open-ended, multimodal learning opportunities. Drawing on research and classroom examples, the session will examine how educators can develop the capacity to make purposeful, context-responsive technology choices that support authentic reading, writing, speaking, listening and meaning-making.
