en-US This presentation explores domestic violence through a comprehensive lens that recognizes the impact on individuals, families, and communities. Moving beyond the perception of domestic violence as a private issue to both a public health concern and a critical social justice issue rooted in systemic inequities and power imbalances.

By the end of this presentation, participants will be able to:

  1. Define domestic violence and identify its various forms within the context of power and control.
  2. Explain how domestic violence functions as a public health issue, including its short- and long-term physical, mental, and intergenerational impacts.
  3. Analyze domestic violence as a social justice issue by examining the role of systemic inequities, structural barriers, and disparities in access to support services.
  4. Identify strategies for prevention and community response, including ways individuals can support survivors and connect them to appropriate local and statewide resources.
