		<description><![CDATA[<p>Join the Writing Across the Curriculum (WAC) program, University Writing Center (UWC), and Department of Writing and Rhetoric (DWR) as we celebrate the vital role of writing in our lives. You are invited to visit the day&rsquo;s writing stations, complete quick activities, and share what writing means to you. Students, faculty, and staff are welcome to participate!</p>
<p><br><strong>What is National Day on Writing?&nbsp;</strong><span>Held on October 20th each year, the National Day on Writing is an annual celebration of the important role that writing plays in our lives. According to the National Council of Teachers of English, NDOW "</span><span>draws attention to the remarkable variety of writing Americans engage in" and "helps make writers from all walks of life aware of their craft."&nbsp;</span><br><u>Event Schedule:</u></p>

<li><strong>10:00am-12:00pm: (Outside TCH 109) "Free Kind Messages" station</strong>Could you use some words of affirmation? Come take a free kind message and pay it forward by writing a note for the next person!</li>
<li><strong>10:30am-11:30am: (Outside TCH 165 DWR Suite) "Handwritten Cards" station</strong>Who doesn&rsquo;t love to receive a handwritten note, postcard, or piece of snail mail? Stop by to write a letter and brighten someone&rsquo;s day.<strong><br></strong></li>
<li><strong>12:00pm-1:00pm: (Outside TCH 109) "Write Here, Write Now, Write On" station</strong>What does it mean to write in this moment, at this place, and for the future? Stop by to share your experiences as a writer at UCF.<strong><br></strong></li>
<li><strong>12:00pm-1:00pm: (TCH 109 WAC Conference Room) "Writing Rules Comic Jam" workshop</strong>Come join Professor Nathan Holic to create a comic that captures the frustrating, funny, and strange rules we live (and write) by. Free pizza is provided for the first 20 participants.</li>
<li><strong>1:00pm-3:00pm: (Outside TCH 165 DWR Suite)&nbsp;"Write a One-Sentence Story" station</strong>Want to flex your creative writing muscles, but you're in a hurry? Stop by to write the shortest short story... in just one sentence.</li>
<li><strong>2:00pm-4:00pm: (Outside University Writing Center)"Literacy Sponsors" station with the University Writing Center</strong>Who or what has influenced your writing and reading skills? Stop by to reflect and learn about the UWC from peer consultants!</li>
