Pronouns are everywhere! We use them every day in speech and in writing to take the place of people’s names. We use them without even thinking about it, but have you ever tried speaking without using any pronouns? When someone is referred to with the wrong pronoun, it can make them feel disrespected, invalidated, dismissed, alienated, and dysphoric. Remember that no matter your gender identity, gender can be very important to someone’s sense of self. The concept of gender is evolving and so are gender identities.
