Join us to hear about the food security issues in the Middle East-North Africa Region. Hear from the following panelists:

  • Tom Crisman, Ph.D., Jefferson Science Fellow and Professor, USF Department of Integrative Biology
    Tom Crisman has spent his career working on multidisciplinary approaches dealing with ecology, management and conservation of fresh water ecosystems, and watershed management of water resources. He has worked in over 70 nations, including significant research in the Middle East-North African region.

  • Michael Carroll, Executive Director, Hollings Center for International Dialogue
    Michael Carroll has served as the Executive Director of the Istanbul-based Hollings Center, which facilities dialog on a range of issues between the United States and Islamic world, since 2013. He previously served as the inaugural Assistant Director for the Institute for the Study of Muslim Societies and Civilizations at Boston University (SMSC). He has also served as the Executive Director of the American Institute of Afghanistan Studies (AIAS) and the American Institute for Yemeni Studies (AIYS).


  • Peter Jacques, Ph.D., Professor & Internship Coordinator, UCF Department of Political Science
    Professor of Political Science and core faculty in sustainable coastal systems, Jacques is president-elect of the Associate of Environmental Studies and Sciences and managing executive editor of the Journal of Environmental Studies and Sciences. He has published five book and many articles focused on environmental sustainability and global environmental activities..

  • David Dumke, Director, Prince Mohammed Bin Fahd Program for Strategic Research and Studies
    David Dumke has spent more than two decades working in the Middle East in a variety of capacities: government, politics, business, journalism, and academia. He formerly worked as an advisor to the U.S. House of Representatives, and consulted for numerous Arab government on security, trade, and foreign policy matters.
