Hakan Özoğlu, Ph.D., is a Professor of History and the Director of the Middle Eastern Studies Minor at UCF. His research interests include the power struggle in the modern Turkish Republic after WWI and U.S. involvement in the Middle East through Turkey after the Great War. The recipient of a 2017-18 Fulbright Core Fellowship, Dr. Özoğlu is currently residing in Istanbul where is is researching and writing a book on U.S. Admiral Mark Lambert Bristol’s tenure as High Commissioner in Turkey. His interviews and essays have appeared in many international media outlets including, New York Times, Orlando Sentinel, Chicago Tribune and WTTW PBS Chicago. He is the recipient of 2017-18 Fulbright Core Fellowship.
