Why Your Business Strategy is Keeping You Up At Night (Or Should Be!) - College of Business Dean's Speaker Series, sponsored by CFE Federal Credit Union

Friday, April 25, 2014 7:30 a.m. to 9 a.m.
At the heart of every successful business strategy is the business’ ability to create and sustain their competitive advantage. However, strategy experts are questioning whether it is still possible to create, much less sustain, a competitive advantage.

Dr. Bob Porter believes it is possible to formulate and implement a winning strategy. He will draw upon his 25 years of industry experience with GE, NCR, AT&T, and a collection of start-ups, including starting and selling a successful community bank, to provide you with practical tips on assessing and addressing strategic planning issues for your business. You will sleep better if you follow the plan.

Bob Porter is a management lecturer and the executive academic director of the Executive Development Center at the University of Central Florida (UCF). His academic credentials include a Ph.D. in Business Administration from UCF (management - entrepreneurship/strategy concentration) and an executive MBA from Rollins College’s Crummer School of Business.

Porter’s academic interests include: entrepreneurship, innovation and creativity, business strategy and organizational theory. He is a member of the Academy of Management, Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers, the Society for Industrial and Organizational Psychology, and the Society of Human Resource Management.
