Invasice Lionfish Collecting and Handling Workshop

Reef Enviornemental Education Foundation, the University of Central Florida, the Marine Discovery Center, and Sea Dogs Dive Center invite you to learn about the invasive lionfish and ways to get involved.

Who: Divers, fishers, and ocean enthusiasts encouraged to attend

Workshop topics include background of the invasion, lionfish biology, ecological impacts, current research findings, collecting tools and techniques, market development and ways to get involved. REEF is a grassroots non-profit organization committed to ocean conservation and education. The REEF team conducts workshops to educate resource managers, divers, fishers and marine enthusiasts. By engaging stakeholders, REEF seeks to reduce negative ecological impacts.

Lionfish Hunting Dives will be hosted by Sea Dogs Dive Center in New Smyrna Beach on June 19th. Book your spot with them (386-424- 1644) or go out on your own boat and remove lionfish on June 19th. Then join us at the Marine Discovery Center in New Smyrna Beach at 4pm for a weigh-in, lionfish cook-out and more!
