Genomics & Bioinformatics Interview Seminar

Wednesday, May 18, 2016 2:30 p.m. to 3:30 p.m.

“Genomics and Bioinformatics From Influenza Virus to Invasive Asian Carp.” presented by Dr. Guoqing Lu

Genomics and bioinformatics are among the most rapidly expanding fields that use genomes and computation to understand biology and improve health. In this talk, Dr. Lu will provide a broad overview of genomics and bioinformatics and introduce several sequence analysis and knowledge mining methods and database systems that were developed by his group and collaborators. In addition, Dr. Lu will present two case studies – influenza virus genotyping and invasive Asian carp genomics to demonstrate the power of bioinformatics in conjunction with genomics. Finally, Dr. Lu will discuss his perspective and vision for the future of the Genomics and Bioinformatics cluster at UCF.
