During the day-long in-service, educators will develop an understanding of literacy learning as a process and teaching for confluency by determining text placement for students in an appropriate text complexity grade band. Teaching for key Ideas and details will be addressed through close reading to determine what the text says explicitly and to make logical inferences from it; cite specific textual evidence when writing or speaking to support conclusions drawn from the text. Additionally, instructional practices will be investigated to determine central ideas or themes of a text and analyze their development.
