Georgia Campus- Philadelphia College of Osteopathic Medicine (GA-PCOM) Visit to UCF

Tuesday, October 17, 2017 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.

Georgia Campus- Philadelphia College of Osteopathic Medicine will be visiting UCF on Tuesday, October 17th, from 10:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Responding to a growing need for healthcare providers in the South, PCOM established a new, state-of-the-art campus in Suwanee, Georgia in 2005. This campus, located just 27 miles north of Atlanta, features a state-of-the-art learning environment with instruction delivered by expert and accomplished faculty. Whitney Brown, Admissions Coordinator/Recruiter, will be meeting with students interested in both GA-PCOM's Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine (DO) and developing Doctor of Physical Therapy (DPT) programs. She will be able to answer any questions regarding admissions process, curriculum, and help you decide if GA-PCOM is the right program for you.

Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine

Our goal is to prepare students for excellence in the practice of osteopathic medicine. As a GA-PCOM student, you will learn to gain insight into your patient's healthcare needs by looking beyond the person and discovering the social and economic factors that impact him or her. We encourage our students to adopt a "Doctor from Day One" mindset as they work to meet their professional and educational goals.

During the four-year program, students will develop knowledge and skills in:

  • osteopathic principles and practice.
  • compassionate, appropriate and effective patient care.
  • established and evolving biomedical, clinical and cognate sciences.
  • effective communications with patients, their families and other health professionals, professionalism, ethical principles and sensitivity to a diverse patient population.
  • Information literacy including the use of technological tools to effectively access information from various resources and formats.

Doctor of Physical Therapy

At GA-PCOM, the mission of the developing physical therapy program is to prepare individuals who demonstrate excellence in the practice of physical therapy, emphasize a “whole person” approach to patient management, commit to the advancement of knowledge and intellectual growth, and engage in the well-being of the community.

The PCOM Department of Physical Therapy is dedicated to:

  • Cultivating an inclusive learning environment that is diverse, inquisitive, dignified, and respectful and that will inspire caring graduates who advocate for all individuals in our changing healthcare environment.
  • Providing a state-of-the-art learning environment that offers the opportunity for “whole person” management through interprofessional collaboration, development and intellectual growth, as well as hands-on experiences.
  • Educational advancement for faculty, students and clinicians to promote development of exceptional healthcare professionals who are committed to life-long learning and engagement in the profession of physical therapy.
