Collaborative Interprofessional Communication: Learning the Patient’s Story
Students from the UF College of Pharmacy, UCF School of Social Work (assigned, clinical-level students), UCF College of Nursing, UCF Department of Physical Therapy, and UCF College of Medicine will work together to elicit a patient’s story and learn about working collaboratively with other professionals to achieve a full understanding of a patient’s needs.
The event takes place in the UCF College of Medicine Clinical Skills and Simulation Center.
Learning Objectives:
- Learn about the roles and responsibilities of other care providers and how the team works together to provide care.
- Engage other health professionals in shared patient-centered problem-solving.
- Choose effective communication tools and techniques to facilitate discussions and interactions that enhance team function.
- Listen actively, and encourage ideas and opinions of other team members.
- Give timely, sensitive, instructive feedback to others about their performance on the team, responding respectfully as a team member to feedback from others.
