HEPS Dissertation Support

  • This is an opportunity for support provided in a "drop in" format, no permanent commitment or requirements. We are here and available and to provide a vibrant connection to your academic community during the candidacy process.

HEPS Research Teams

  • Opportunities for our HEPS doctoral students to gain group mentoring in research and publication, above and beyond your courses and dissertation. We are working on several research projects in small groups. Several of our programs' fulltime and adjunct faculty support this effort. We appreciate their investment of time, effort, expertise and goodwill!

We hope you will join us for an exciting career trajectory and research development opportunity!

More detail regarding Research Teams

Most doctoral research teams will be made up of four to five students, and a Faculty Research Mentor. Students will select a research topic from among those available. This opportunity provides a research project which will span several months.

Purpose: This project provides a scalable model for building HEPS doctoral students' research experience and publishing opportunities.

Goal and Benefits: The goal is for students, through faculty facilitated, doctoral research teams, to engage in hands-on research projects, from beginning (design) to end (dissemination). The teams’ collaborative format not only provides participants a greater understanding of research, but also powerful opportunities to advance their higher education careers in the forms of research productivity, publication, conference presentations, professional network and preparation for successful dissertation work.

 Student Responsibilities for Participation
Students participating in the research teams must commit to

  • Monthly, 1.5-2 hr, on-campus meetings with brief workshops by the Faculty Research Mentors and facilitated team working sessions.
  • Collaborative team work during the month, face-to-face and/or virtual, to develop and conduct their research project. (These will include only the student team members.)
