Seminar Series: Accurate Blood Pressure Monitoring At Home

Wednesday, October 29, 2014 2 p.m. to 3 p.m.
Many people are instructed to monitor their blood pressures at home, but few actually do it correctly. This session will cover what blood pressure readings really mean; the correct ranges to shoot for; how to select the right equipment; the best times of day for monitoring; the proper technique for taking you blood pressure; and factors that contribute to false readings (from caffeine to a full bladder). When performed correctly, at-home blood pressure monitoring can be an important tool to help your doctor treat you most effectively.

This session will be conducted by Abdo Asmar,M.D., board-certified nephrologist and hypertension specialist. Dr. Asmar treats patients at UCF Pegasus Health and is an assistant professor at the UCF College of Medicine.
