Seminar Series: Helping Teens Develop Healthy Habits for a Lifetime (Adults Only)

Thursday, November 20, 2014 6 p.m. to 7 p.m.
Teenagers may look and act like adults, but their brains are still in a constant state of development. “Take a bath,” “brush your teeth,” “lay off the junk food” and “get some sleep.” If you feel like a broken record, you’re not alone. While teen brains are more focused on short-term rewards, parents and caregivers understand that good health today will pay dividends in the future. Join us to discuss teen development and some strategies for instilling healthy, life-long habits, picking and choosing your battles, and the art of coaching vs. nagging.

This session will be led by Lisa Barkley, M.D., board-certified in adolescent medicine and sports medicine. Dr. Barkley treats patients at UCF Pegasus Health and is an assistant professor at the UCF College of Medicine.
