Visiting Artist Lecture: Andrew O'Brien

Andrew O'Brien makes work that examines the social, historical, and cultural motivations behind landscape formation and the built environment. Ins his creative practice he oscillates between a research-intensive approach and one that is informed by more immediate subjective experience. Projects include collections of photographs as well as sound, video, and installation. Since receiving his MFA from the University of Oregon in 2009, O'Brien has lived and worked in Los Angeles, New York City, and Tennessee. He has exhibited at Seed Space, Nashville TN, Houston Center for Photography, Houston, TX, the enter for Fine Art Photography, Fort Collins, CO, Clark College, Vancouver WA, Greenleaf Gallery at Whittier College, Whitter, CA, and the Curb Center at Vanderbilt University among others. Currently, he is Assistant Professor of Photography and Media Art at the University of Tennessee at Chattanooga.
