Lunar Eclipse Viewing

Sunday, January 20, 2019 11 p.m. to Monday, January 21 at 1 a.m.

A total lunar eclipse occurs late at night on the evening of Sunday, January 20, 2019. Come to Memory Mall between 11 p.m. and 1 a.m. that night to view the Moon through our portable telescopes and get a close-up view! Totality lasts from about 11:45 p.m. to 12:45 a.m., when the Moon will a beautiful orange-red. Deepest eclipse happens at 12:12 a.m. More info about what you'll see: https://www.timeanddate.com/eclipse/in/usa/orlando.

(Some things to note: (i) This event is on Memory Mall, not at the Observatory itself. (ii) It is weather-dependent, so in the case of rain or heavy clouds, the event will be cancelled. Follow Robinson Observatory on Facebook, Twitter, or on our webpage to stay up-to-date about events and event status. (iii) This is a lunar eclipse, not a solar one, so you actually don't need any optical aid or extra protection to safely view the eclipse.)
